Frater Creates Carolina Latino Collaborative

Frater Ron Bilbao of Upsilon-Nu Chapter (UNC-Chapel Hill) found a home at UNC through a Carolina Covenant Scholarship. His work with other students, faculty and campus administrators created a home for other Latino students at Carolina.

A New Chapter in TKE Leadership

On Monday, July 19, 2010 we began a new chapter in our Fraternity's leadership. TKE's Grand Hegemon, Frater Shawn Babine, has left his position on the Grand Council and will succeed Frater Kevin Mayeux as TKE's Chief Executive Officer. Frater Shawn will serve in this role on an interim basis while the Grand Council begins a comprehensive search for potential candidates.

TKE Grand Opening Celebration a Success

Fraters trekked across the TKE Nation to converge on the new Offices of the Grand Chapter in Indianapolis. There was a buzz among the more than 200 attendees impressed with the facility they now call "Home." The historic day in our 111-year history marked the beginning of a new era.

AVA Kicks Off Weekend Festivities

Baltimore RLC Date Changed

In an effort to better serve Regions 1 and 2, collegiate and alumni members will now get to attend the Baltimore Regional Leadership Conference February 25-26. With many schools getting started for the Spring semester, it was determined by staff and volunteers that this was the best fit. The remainder of the sites and dates will be the same.

TKE Staff Reaches Out, Promotes St. Jude

At 84 degrees with a heat index well into the 90's, Fraters and staff from the Offices of the Grand Chapter went around the city of Indianapolis handing out water and fliers promoting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Tau Kappa Epsilon's primary philanthropic partner, the staff took time out to raise awareness about the great work being accomplished at St. Jude.

Frater Robert Byrd Passes into Chapter Eternal

U.S. Senator Frater Robert Byrd (Alpha-Pi, George Washington Univ.) of West Virginia, a fiery orator versed in the classics and a hard-charging power broker who steered billions of federal dollars to the state of his Depression-era upbringing, died Monday. He was 92.

Starbucks CEO Continues TKE Mission

Despite its recent difficulties, Starbucks still spends more money on employee health care than on coffee. Given corporations' tendency to cut costs in tough times - sometimes at the expense of workers' happiness and well-being - CEO Howard Schultz's (Theta-Iota, Northern Michigan Univ.) adherence to the principle that Starbucks baristas should have health-care benefits is cause for applause.

Surprise Ending Gives Frater Another Victory

A little over a month ago, Frater Kenny Troutt (Beta-Chi, Southern Illinois Univ.) and his racing partner Bill Casner were dreaming of winning their first Kentucky Derby. This weekend, the pair took another horse, Drosselmeyer, to victory circle in the Belmont Stakes. The third race in the coveted Triple Crown of horse racing, Frater Kenny won two of the most watched races in the sport.

Grand Prytanis visits Kansas State

The Time to Pounce is NOW

There is no chapter in Tau Kappa Epsilon that would not benefit substantially from developing an effective summer recruitment program. In the Midwest and the West, some chapters recruit nearly 80 percent of their new members for the coming year in the summer preceding the fall term and recruit better quality and higher quantity of new members than competitors. In the chapters where summer recruitment is rare or non-existent, any chapter smart enough to seize this opportunity can completely blow the doors off the competition.

Pi-Omega Takes Challenge in Memory of a Frater

Fraters from the Pi-Omega Chapter (SUNY-Albany) went on the Oprah Winfrey Show Tuesday pledging to have every member be a part of the "No Phone Zone." Oprah has begun promoting this program as a way to curb cell phone use while driving.
