Birthday of a Legend, His Academy Team Announced

On January 2nd, 1925, one of the most influential and charitable Fraters in TKE's history joined this organization. His birthday, March 4th, is celebrated this year with the lasting legacy he has made. The aptly named Charles R. Walgreen, Jr. TKE Leadership Academy is gearing up for another impactful year (with applications due March 15) - yet none of this would be available without his consistent and lasting support.

Help the Fight Against Alzheimer's

The Alzheimer's Association (a preferred philanthropy of TKE) is holding a candlelight vigil in Washington, D.C. this weekend. On the evening of Sunday, March 7, 2010, hundreds of candles will flicker in support of the fight against Alzheimer's disease. Please join them on steps of the Lincoln Memorial for the Candlelight Tribute Rally.

Enhancements to New Headquarters Begin

Beginning the renovations of the new TKE Headquarters, signs were erected on the side of the building and the road leading into the facility. The red illuminating TKE sign sits atop the silver glass panes viewable from the Indiana interstate highway 465. The second sign was built at the front of the building as you drive up.

Frater Ryan Crocker Named Dean of Texas A&M's George Bush School

Former Ambassador and Frater Ryan C. Crocker (Alpha-Theta, Whitman College) has been appointed dean of Texas A&M University's George Bush School of Government and Public Service, effective January 25. Most recently, Crocker served as U.S. ambassador to Iraq from 2007 to 2009.

Tax Law and Your Chapter

RLC Season Starts With a Bang

A record 229 Fraters drove from around the TKE Nation to Indianapolis for the first of five Regional Leadership Conferences. The attendance was the second largest in history, only St. Louis in 2004 beat that number with 249 members. Learning and networking with fellow Fraters representing Region 2 (South) and 3 (Midwest), the buzz around the Circle City was deafening.

TKE Educational Foundation Historical Cash Contributions

When reviewing the revenue history of the Foundation since TKE was founded in 1899, Tekes have contributed more than $16 Million to the TKE Educational Foundation. These gifts have been received since the Foundation began in 1959. However, 30% of these dollars have been given within the last five years. This means that Tekes contributed $11.2 Million over the first forty years between 1959 and 2004. From 2005 - 2009, Tekes have contributed nearly $5 Million!

Saints, Colts Connections Heading to Super Bowl

For the first time in franchise history, the New Orleans Saints are heading to the Super Bowl to square off against the Indianapolis Colts. Over the Public Address system at the Superdome in New Orleans, fans heard Frater Jerry Romig (Grand Chapter) announce, "Ain't this beautiful? The Saints are going to the Super Bowl."

Fraters Seek Way to Help Haitians, Find It

The devastation in Haiti, after one of the strongest earthquakes to hit the island since 1770, has been immense. The quake (7.0 on the Richter Scale) struck at about 5PM on January 12th and some three million people were in need of emergency care, not to mention those that were hurt because of the two aftershocks that reached 5.9 and 4.2 on the Richter Scale. Tekes now have a way to help the relief efforts through the partnership with Angelwish.

Frater Todd Farmer Takes on New Challenge

The Offices of the Grand Chapter is happy to announce some transitions in the Chapter Services department of TKE. The first of these is the appointment of Frater Todd Farmer (Xi-Theta, Univ. of West Georgia) to Senior Regional Director of the West. This expansive region that stretches from Hawaii to Missouri will benefit from the excellent leadership and expertise of Frater Todd as he moves into this role this summer. Farmer has served on the TKE Professional Staff since 1992 and Region 1 Director since 2002.
