Happy Founders Day!

                                                                                                                                     January 10, 2010
Fraters of Delta Nu,

On January 10, 1899, a great fraternity was born and some 55 years ago, on May 15, 1954, on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University, one of the finest chapters was started! On behalf of the men of the Board of Alumni Advisors of the Delta-Nu Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon, I want to provide you with an update on the chapter on the day that celebrates the beginning of our great fraternity.

While the economy has been extremely tough in 2009, the Delta Nu Chapter continues to grow stronger. We pledged another 34 men, one of the largest pledge classes in the country. Additionally, we continue to become more fiscally responsible. Rent and dues are being paid on time by the active chapter members and we are starting to make improvements on our house that is now 10 years old. We painted and re-carpeted two suites this year and we plan to do at least two more this summer. We will fund this through the rent that is being paid by the members.  We will close the house this summer to save a great deal of money in utility expense and wear and tear on the property.

On the alumni front, our alumni support has never been better and we still have a huge opportunity to do more. At last year's golf outing, I proposed that all Delta Nu alumni should commit to becoming Alumni Members with a donation of at least $50 per year as annual alumni dues. With our alumni ranks now totaling more than 1,500, we are trying to get at least 500 alumni to pay membership dues annually to support  an endowment fund to help get the alumni re-connected and make improvements on the fraternity house.

To that end, we have just sent out our first alumni newsletter via email and USPS and have made major updates to the alumni web site. We will continue to send out newsletters to keep all alumni updated on what is happening with the active chapter and with alumni from around the country. When you get right down to it, the very essence of why we are all Tekes is the close friendships we developed while at Northwest. I know that for me, my very best friends are still those young men I met when I pledged TKE.

On this anniversary of our great fraternity and on behalf of the entire Board of Advisors, we wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous 2010.

Yours in the Bond,
