July 2010 Delta Nu e-Review
Introduction
On behalf of the Board of Advisors and the Alumni Association, we hope this finds you and your families enjoying your summer. So much positive news continues to be generated from Maryville, even as the active chapter is away on break. Over the past month, a work weekend was held with nearly 20 alumni lending a hand to freshen up the house and make some improvements. Additionally, the website continues to get updates and the Alumni Association continues to grow. We also get one month closer to homecoming. The alumni association and board are looking for more volunteers to contribute their skills, opinions and knowledge. If you are interested in joining up, please email Mark Witthar @ mwitthar@ford.com or Brad Shelton at brad.shelton@nwtke.com. Y.I.T.B!
Board of Advisors
President’s Report – Mark Witthar, 853, mwitthar@ford.com
As we head into the fall semester I am pleased to report that the "State of the Chapter and the Alumni Association" is STRONG! As you will see from Brad Shelton's report, we have more alumni joining the association. We also have a strong active chapter and the young men of Delta Nu are putting together strong plans for rush! Additionally, we are making even more improvements on the house by painting rooms, making needed repairs and capital improvement projects. The good news is we are funding these actions the right way. The painting project is funded through donated materials from Frater Scott Keilbey! Thank you! The work is good old fashioned "sweat equity" from the active chapter and alumni members. None of this happens without your input or involvement, so get involved and let’s have some fun! There are a bunch of your old friends that you know you would love to catch up with, so what are you waiting for?
There is one official piece of business to put before the DNAA membership.
Recently, I received a request for one of the DNAA members and was reminded that we have 2 full time members from Delta Nu on TKE HQ Staff and have several other Delta Nu alumni working as volunteer staff to support Delta Nu. This request for a donation is a show of support for the good work they are doing to keep the spirit of the Bond alive.
The following motion was submitted by Frater Rich Reetz with a second by Frater Lee Greve:
“In order to retain our pre-eminent position and standing within the TKE National Fraternity and as a show of support to the dedication of the new Offices of the Grand Chapter and the new headquarters building,
I hereby move that the Delta Nu Alumni Association allocate the sum of $500 for the purpose of purchasing and inscribing a brick at the new TKE National Headquarters in Indianapolis in the name of the DNAA. The Inscription, subject to revisions, shall read:
Delta Nu Alumni Assn
NW Missouri State U.
2010
Therefore, I am putting the motion before the membership. A separate email and /or letter will be sent to all DN Alumni Association members as of Aug 1, 2010 requesting a yes or no vote on this motion. We will close voting on August 13, 2010. A majority of the votes cast will decide the motion.
Again, thanks to everyone for your time and donations. We are making a difference in the lives of some fine young men and we are reconnecting Delta Nu alumni all over the country. YITB, Mark Witthar
Alumni Association Update – Brad Shelton, 651, brad.shelton@nwtke.com
The DNAA membership committee is please to report that we are up to 96 DNAA members that have paid in full for their 1, 2 or 3 year dues thru July, 2010.
Several members of the work crew at the house this past weekend joined the membership and we continue to reach out to other Fraters and encourage them to get involved.
Efforts to update the database by reaching out to missing Fraters have been stepped up.
All Fraters are encouraged to go to the web site and sign on and update their contact information. This will provide access to the Frater Finder and help keep the database fresh.
Check out the missing Fraters page and see if there is someone for whom you have address or phone number. We recently “found” Frater Cameron “Scott” Welch - DN797 in Colorado.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the DNAA, contact me at brad.shelton@nwtke.com or go on line and sign up at: http://www.nwtke.com/content/join-delta-nu-alumni-association/
