Fraters, it is time to start thinking about making that annual pilgrimage to Maryville and Mozingo. Things are starting to thaw out and time to start adding another event to your busy summer.

The 13th Annual TKE Golf Tournament will be held Friday, August 1st, 2008 at Mozingo Lake Golf Course in Maryville, MO. The tournament is open to all alumni and actives of TKE. Registration deadline for the event is Friday, July 25th.

This year, the start time of the tournament is being pushed back a bit from previous years as we will be starting things about an hour or so later than usual. This should give everyone a little more time to get to the course. The major difference in the schedule this year is that we will serving a pre-tournament lunch instead of a post-tournament dinner. The main reason for the change is that the TKE house will not be open during the summer months. We should still be ending all festivities by around 7 p.m.

Where: Mozingo Lake Golf Course, Maryville; 5 miles East on Hwy 136

How much: no more than $70 per alumni; no more than $50 for actives

Includes 18 holes of golf and cart, driving range balls, prizes, pre-event luncheon

Schedule: 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Check-in/Driving Range

11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Lunch

1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. Pre-golf huddle and contests

1:45 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Golf (shotgun start planned; drop off scorecards);

6:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Awards and Prizes

All activities, unless otherwise noted will be in and around the Mozingo GC clubhouse

Recruiting - As we are always hoping to maintain or exceed 72 golfers (18 foursomes), we encourage every golfer or team to recruit another golfer and team. Call your pledge brothers and get a few teams together! If you refer a new golfer to this year’s tournament, we will provide you with two complimentary drink tickets and two free second chance mulligans.

Lodging - There are four hotels in Maryville. This year, we’ve set up a special deal with Comfort Inn and Super 8. At the Comfort Inn, we have a block of 10 rooms reserved for $67.46 a night – rooms are normally $79.46. At the Super 8, we have 15 rooms reserved for $49.88 a night – rooms are normally $54.88 each. These blocks, please ask for “TKE Golf”, expire July 1st and are for Thursday, July 31st and Friday, August 1st. Comfort Inn’s number is 660-562-2002 and Super 8’s number is 660-582-8088. Sponsorship Opportunities

The tournament offers TKE-owned businesses, and even pledge classes, the opportunity to get their name out to other Tekes. Hole prizes, tournament giveaways and other items will be available for you to put your name on, or to just help out the tournament. Memorial Mulligans and other programs

Since the 1997 tournament, Memorial Mulligans have been sold as part of the donation efforts for the new TKE house. The funds raised from these Mulligans go towards getting bricks on the Donors Wall on behalf Fraters that have passed away. These are sold for $20 each and are team Mulligans, meaning when a Mulligan is used, each player on the team re-takes the shot.

Second Chance Mulligans - Starting last year, we started selling additional chances to help your game. These were $1 chances that were used for anything from an additional putt, drive, to advancing or moving back a tee box; but you might also have to buy the tournament directors a drink (or they might have to buy you one).

Flag prizes and range balls - As part of your registration fees, you will be able to use the driving range for free. Additionally, there will flag prizes on nearly half of the holes.

Extra golf - This year, if Friday afternoon is not enough golf for you, Mozingo tells me you can also golf Friday or Saturday morning. The latest tee time you can schedule Saturday is 10 a.m.; they have an event Saturday which has a 3 p.m. shotgun start.
